ghosts tell stories
This is a story of golf, fashion - and change.
Golf originated in 15th century Scotland. King James II hated the sport and he banned it in 1457. His grandson, King James IV, loved it and reversed the ban in 1502. For the next 500 years, the story of golf remained pretty much the same: a stodgy sport controlled by rich white dudes.
Then came Eastside Golf.
Founded in 2019 by Olajuwon Ajanaku and Earl Cooper, Eastside Golf represents everything that golf should be, but historically wasn’t: young, Black, inclusive, authentic. Embraced by modern-day monarchs like Jordan and Obama, ESG is now bigger than golf. It’s fashion. Sneakers. Culture. And now, a ghost.
The “Swingman” ghost, created for the ESG Invitational Tournament in 2023 and 2024, has been many things: a tee box marker, a participant gift, a commemorative keepsake, and now, for the very first time, a collectible you can actually buy. Of the 176 ghosts made in 2024, only 50 are being released for sale.
Collect a piece of Eastside Golf history - and the history they’ve so radically changed.
